We have officially begun participant recruitment and research observations at some of our research sites! From residential apartment buildings, office blocks and commercial kitchens in the Melbourne CBD, to cafes, student and suburban residences dotted around the suburbs... research has begun to investigate how we can reduce our carbon footprint, divert food waste from landfill, and use the compost to grow food! From researching across all different types of sites, and different composting technologies, we will be able to find out what works best for people, what reduces greenhouse gas emissions the most, and what creates the best compost for growing food! Stay tuned for research updates along the way! Ready, set, compost!
In the photograph above (taken at one of our research sites) we see one of the signs used on a food scraps caddy. Residents of a large apartment building in Melbourne's CBD will be using these caddies to separate their food scraps and diverting them from landfill. Can't wait to hear what the residents think!
